The Sweden Volleyball Association is aiming for sustained success on the world stage by implementing improvements to its volleyball curriculum.

The Swedish Volleyball Association’s goal of developing the Swedish women’s national volleyball team into a worldwide competitor has recently received a boost thanks to support from the Volleyball Empowerment initiative run by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

The support that has been provided by the FIVB has included a national team coaches development programme in addition to three months of support for coaches in 2021 and 2022.

Because to the funding, the Swedish Volleyball Association was able to get Finnish volleyball coach Lauri Hakala to take charge of the women’s national team. During his tenure in Sweden, Hakala has also been working on the implementation of a national team program. This program is intended to establish the groundwork for long-term and sustained success on the international arena.

Through its Volleyball Empowerment program, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) continues to improve the level of play in the sport of volleyball all around the world. This program also assists individual teams in realizing their full potential.

“We are thrilled that the Sweden women’s national team is benefiting from FIVB sponsorship with a competitive team already emerging under the supervision of Head Coach Lauri Hakala.”

The President of the Swedish Volleyball Association, Annika Sjoberg, made the following statement:

“Thanks to the kind support of the FIVB, we were able to recruit a new head coach for the women’s national volleyball team who is well suited to both the team’s current and future demands. Our goal is to establish a national team program that will provide the team with the tools and resources necessary to compete well on an international level. Long-term, our goal is to establish a program that will be able to supply the national team with new players who have a high potential for future success. This will make it possible for the national team to make generational shifts without sacrificing its ability to compete on an international level.

Head Coach Lauri Hakala said:

“The backing of the FIVB has been vital for our aspirations to build the women’s national team and grow the sport in Sweden. We are extremely grateful for their assistance.” The team is currently receiving a great deal of attention from the media, which is contributing to a rising level of national interest in the sport.

“From a more distant point of view, one of my goals is to be a part of the construction of a squad that will be able to compete at a high international level for a considerable amount of time in the future.”
