BOSKOVIC – The 2018 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championships featured several repeats from the previous year’s competition, including Serbia’s triumph in the 2022 edition.
After leading her national side to a perfect record in both the Netherlands and Poland, star opposite Tijana Boskovic was once again named the Most Valuable Player on Saturday. She had already won this honor four years ago.
The opposite, who is now 25 years old, has become only the second player in the history of the World Championship to win the Most Valuable Player award in multiple iterations of the competition. His accomplishment mirrors that of Regla Torres, a Cuban middle blocker, who won the award in both 1994 and 1998.
Boskovic was one of three players from Serbia to be chosen for the tournament’s Dream Team. The team also included two athletes from the country that finished in second place, Brazil, and two more athletes from the country that took third place, Italy.

With 240 points over the course of the 19th World Championship, Boskovic finished in third place in the standings for points scored (219 kills, 13 blocks, eight aces). The fact that the next Serbian on the list, outside hitter Bianka Busa, scored just 97 points over the course of 12 matches highlights the value that she possesses for her team.
